Enabling participation, fostering empowerment, and supporting lifelong learning: Cultural education is an important topic for us.

Our “Study on Social Conditions” from 2024 found that 46% of professionals in the performing arts are (also) active in cultural education. For many children, programmes in cultural education are their first encounter with the independent performing arts. Accordingly, cultural education is a central topic for the independent performing arts.

Since 2013, with our project “tanz + theater machen stark” (dance + theatre make you strong), we have been part of the federal programme “Kultur macht stark. Bündnisse für Bildung” (Culture Makes You Strong. Alliances for Education). The project supports cultural education initiatives that enable children and young people from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds to experience and explore contemporary practices of the independent performing arts.

In 2018, the study “Independent Performing Arts and Cultural Education in the Context of National Funding Structures” was published. It was commissioned by us and conducted by Aaron Weigl on behalf of the EDUCULT initiative.
