For some years now, the BFDK has been increasingly concerned with various key topics. For this purpose, suitable working groups are often formed. In doing so, the association takes up questions and interests of its members.
Diversity
The BFDK represents the interests of all stakeholders in the independent performing arts and therefore seeks to address diversity: it strives to dismantle the discrimination that exists in society and therefore also in the performing arts.
Funding structures
Differentiating between different funding structures and adapting them to current needs so that stakeholders in the independent performing arts are sustainably socially secured is one of the main objectives of the BFDK.
International relationships
The BFDK is active internationally and is in close dialogue with other European organisations. It is committed to defending the freedom of the arts, which is more and more under threat in Europe.
Cultural education
Enabling participation, encouraging self-empowerment and supporting lifelong learning: for many years cultural education has been a high priority for the BFDK.
Rural areas
The BFDK enables, supports, connects and strengthens independent performing arts projects in rural areas. In this way it contributes to ensuring basic cultural services are provided in these areas.
Sustainability
Especially since the federal congress UTOPIA.JETZT in 2020, the BFDK is taking very concrete steps to firmly anchor sustainability as a central issue in the independent performing arts.
Social conditions
Improving working conditions and social security for stakeholders in the independent performing arts is one of the fundamental pillars of the BFDK’s mission. Because various studies show that the social situation of those working in the performing arts is very precarious.
Knowledge transfer
In order to begin working in the independent performing arts, knowledge transfer, further training and professionalisation are indispensable. One of the BFDK’s core tasks is to share relevant knowledge – as widely and accessibly as possible.
