brings together professionals from the performing arts to develop a catalogue of measures for sustainable production.

Productions in the performing arts always involve the use of materials and resources for props, technology, or stage design, among other things. In addition, the mobility required for touring performances also results in high CO2 emissions. There is therefore an urgent need to improve the carbon footprint of the performing arts, for example through smart, interdisciplinary approaches such as a circular materials economy.

To give professionals in the performing arts practical ways to act more sustainably, a catalogue of voluntary measures for sustainable production is being developed as part of “Sustainable Production”. Associations, advocacy groups, production and performance venues, artists, and collectives from the independent performing arts are invited to take an active part in developing the catalogue. This will ensure that the final catalogue is relevant and practical for its diverse target audience. At the same time, this approach draws on all existing expertise. The focus will be on ecological sustainability in operations while taking into account social, cultural, and economic aspects of sustainability.
