Förderung der Berthold Leibinger Stiftung für Produktionen von Theater im öffentlichen Raum. „Theater im öffentlichen Raum“ deckt eine Vielzahl von Aufführungsformen ab. Die Förderlinie bezieht sich explizit auf Formate mit dem Schwerpunkt „Theater und Sprache“. Auch hybride Theaterformen, die sich mit Sprache auseinandersetzen, sind antragsberechtigt.

Building a sustainable career in the performing arts comes with its challenges. Whether it is about special medical attention or career development prospects: in some European countries, some structures have been established to support artists in different aspects of their career. We will present some best practice examples and hear from artists and their experiences.

Mit dem antragsoffenen „Fonds Zero“ will die Kulturstiftung Kultureinrichtungen darin unterstützen, klimaneutrale Produktionsformen und neue Ästhetiken mit geringstmöglicher Klimawirkung zu erproben. Die Entwicklung und Umsetzung von künstlerisch innovativen und zugleich klimaneutralen Kunst- und Kulturprojekten in den Jahren 2023 – 2027 soll Kultureinrichtungen und Künstler für ökologisch nachhaltiges Produzieren sensibilisieren und Veränderungen für einen aktiven Klimaschutz erwirken. Damit soll modellhaft ein Beitrag zu einer Neuorientierung in der deutschen Kulturlandschaft geleistet werden, um deren Ausstoß an Treibhausgasen langfristig zu reduzieren.

What can the arts do for public health? Throughout Europe, there are many examples of artist-driven projects that directly address communities with special needs. Whether it is the “arts on prescription” in the Baltic Sea region or dance classes for people with chronic diseases. Arts can do a lot for an individual’s well-being, but does this imply that artists are obliged to cover needs or gaps in the social system?

Perform Europe is a funding scheme offering EUR 2.1 million euros for performing arts collaborations across all 40 Creative Europe countries. Perform Europe supports partnership projects which reinvent the way we tour across borders. After a highly successful pilot project (2020-2022), Perform Europe will continue to put emphasis on exploring, with the performing arts sector, how cross-border touring can be made fairer, greener, and more inclusive.

We examine several European funding politics in regards to fair working conditions. Do funders query how individual artists are treated in the structures they are funding? Is the allocation of funds transparent and the working climate fair? We review some models where funding structures have put some monitoring mechanisms in place, whether or not they bring an improvement for artists and where more support is needed for a fairer treatment of artists at their workplace.
